Dorozome Reverse GL3 Selvedge Denim
Featuring rare Toyoda GL3 Japanese selvedge denim, three layers of dye, and a unique reverse finish, these jeans are truly a first-of-its-kind collaboration.
Only at Blue Owl.
Made in collaboration with Studio D’artisan, this limited release combines the ancient mud-dye process of dorozome with an incredible low-tension 15oz selvedge denim woven on vintage Toyoda shuttle looms from the 1950s. The denim yarn is rope-dyed indigo, and then sewn in reverse with the weft-side out to amplify the texture of the final product.
The jeans are then shipped to the island of Amami Oshima, where they are hand-dyed two more times: first in tannins from local trees, and finally, in the island’s famous iron-rich mud pits. This process transforms the color of the jeans from white (weft) and blue (warp), to a dark coffee brown color with a dark interior, and a prominent streaky texture made possibly through the reverse construction.
Finally, the jeans are rinsed in the river and dried in the sun to clean the denim and eliminate any further shrinkage, ensuring the jeans are ready to wear on day one.
Cut in Studio D’artisan’s Regular Straight fit and equipped with special collaborative finishings, including a custom cowhide leather patch.
Available Friday, October 30 at 10am PT – only at Blue Owl.
